Huffer hosts 20th Anniversary Celebration and Music Showcase at New Zealand Fashion Week

Celebrating 20 years in the fashion industry, last night Huffer held nothing back at New Zealand Fashion Week putting on their biggest show to date with over 2000 guests at Spark Arena to showcase our A/W 18 collection.

Guests reveled in a night of fashion and music from the moment the show started with models fiercely walking the catwalk to a moody, atmospheric score produced by NZ artist Montel2099 sponsored by Red Bull Studios. Over 40 looks came down the runway, giving fashion week goers more than just a sneak peek into the new collection.

“Huffer’s point of difference has always been combining fashion together with functionality and this collection is a great example of that work,” says Steve Dunstan. “For our 20th anniversary celebration we wanted to show off the new A/W 18 range as well as celebrate several pieces from our functional collections including Down and Stay Dry.”

“Not only do we recognize that Down is a functional garment that delivers incredible warmth but its street appeal is something that is now synonymous with Huffer, so we felt it was important that we incorporated it within this year’s show”.

Huffer impressed with a contemporary runway show that showcased urban street style and an exclusive Huffer runway appearance by Kiwi supermodel Eden Bristowe, who has previously walked at London Fashion Week and has modelled all over the world. As a huge fan of the brand, Bristowe flew in yesterday from Sydney so she could be there to help close the show and celebrate Huffer’s two successful decades in the fashion business.

The collection featured a bold colour palette with a lot of blood red, pink, khaki’s and camo’s. For the first time in 15 years of Huffer showing at New Zealand Fashion Week, the brand presented the A/W 18 ready-to-wear collection mixed with never to be released design room garments.

Dan Ahwa, fashion editor for Viva, was bought on board to style the entire Huffer show “Styling a milestone show for an iconic Kiwi brand has been an incredible journey,” says Ahwa. “We looked at the 20-year archive for inspiration along with what the brand represents now and for the future. From humble beginnings to the big time, this mood is reflected in the styling with a nod to Americana references with details such as hats from Kiwi brand Hills Hats to vintage western boots. It was a lot of fun elevating the looks for the show, particularly its collection of Down!”

As Eden walked off the runway ending the runway show on a high, the second part of the showcase immediately kicked off with some of New Zealand’s top musicians and artists taking the stage including P Money, Montel 2099 and High Hoops for an hour-long set.

Dunstan says “This year New Zealand Fashion Week was a chance for us to celebrate 20 years with the community and our sponsors that helped build us, to say thank you and to say hey it’s been a great ride and this is what we can deliver for you in the future. We have done 20 and we’ve got 20 more in us!”
